Wedding Entertainment Ideas

A lot of Brides and Grooms ask me about wedding entertainment and what works well on a wedding day.  So I thought I’d put together some ideas here of what I’ve seen and what I know works.

Undercover / Singing Waiters – Always a huge hit with your guests.  They will be in disguise as a member of the catering team but then at the opportune moment they break out into song.  It aways gets everyone up and dancing and guests love it.

Musicians – Live singers and performers are always a good choice in my book and you would have to search far and wide to find anyone better than Ashmore Acoustics in my opinion.  Matt & Liam are just two of the nicest guys ever and they are awesome at what they do too!  I quite often ask them to play something totally obscure and they can usually do it.

Lawn Games – Tug of War between the girls and boys or Giant Jenga… whatever you think your guests would enjoy, it’s sure to make your day fun filled.

Rodeo – I’ve seen many a bridesmaid clamber on the Rodeo Bull and stay on longer than the ushers 😂 it’s always fun photographing people falling off things…

DJ’s / Bands – Every party needs music, doesn’t it? I have worked alongside many bands and DJ’s and they are really a must for your evening entertainment (aside from having musicians all day at your wedding such as the boys from Ashmore Acoustics).  Check out Sound Solutions Dj’s and Strictly Weddings.

Wedding Entertainment Ideas

Ice Cream Cart –  I know we are having a bit of a heat wave at the moment but even during our normal British Summertime, a lovely cool Ice Cream always goes down a treat with wedding guests.  Pollyanna’s van looks as good as the ice cream tastes.

Magician – Always a hit with guests.  A bit of close up magic never fails to make guests react with gasps and laughter.  If you’re worried that your guests are going to get bored during the reception then a magician will fill that void.

Bouncy Castle – Now, the last time I photographed at a wedding with a bouncy castle, the best man kneed himself in the face and gave himself a nose bleed… great photo for me, not so great for the best man… He was ok after another pint 👍

Caricaturist – It’s exactly the same with a caricaturist, like the magician, they will keep guests entertained and laughing and they get to take their picture home with them, what could be better than that!?

Casino – Who doesn’t love a bit of a flutter.  Even Great Aunty Mable will be found at the table, chips in hand, cheering for the roulette ball to land on Red.  Casino Royale are fabulous, check them out here.

Magic Mirror / Photo Booth – My absolute favourite thing to do at wedding… Don a hat, some massive glasses and strike a pose.  Such fun!  It’s also a lovely reminder for you as usually you get to keep a small book of photos with personally written messages in.  A great alternative to a guest book.

Fire Performers –  I haven’t, as yet, photographed fire performers at a wedding (I have photographed them at a 50th Birthday Party at Warwick Castle) but I just booked a coupe who are having them at their wedding next year and I absolutely cannot wait for that!

It goes without saying that you will have to check with your Wedding Venue before you book any of these just to ensure that they allow it.  This really applies to the Fire Performers more the the rest, but it’s still a good idea to check first if you’re thinking of having any of the above.
